The name Houdek is firmly established in contemporary art glass. After years of individual work, Filip and Lukas Houdek joined forces under the shared identity HOUDEK.ART and focused their studio entirely on authorial art.
Together they create sculptures, light objects, paintings, and conceptual works shaped by strong themes, precise craft, and a distinct visual language. Their best-known collections include Obsession, inspired by cycling, and Passion, dedicated to motorsport.
One of the most distinctive figures on the contemporary Czech visual scene, Filip Houdek's interdisciplinary work redefines the boundaries between art, design, and technological experimentation. Through site-specific installations, luminodynamic objects, and experimental sculptures, he continuously tests the limits of materials and their interaction with space.
In the dialogue between glass, light, and movement, Houdek discovers visual paradigms that oscillate between abstract aesthetics and precisely articulated structural concepts. Together with his brother, Lukas Houdek, he forms an artistic duo that explores the dynamics of materials in the context of space, perception, and light.
Houdek has established himself as a creator of monumental light compositions as well as intimate experimental objects, combining minimalist reduction with a rich symbolic narrative. He has collaborated with prestigious brands and institutions including Baccarat, Vista Alegre, Louis Vuitton, Moser, Lasvit, Audemars Piguet, and Horizon Yacht.
A central element of Houdek's work is light as a bearer of meaning, ranging from minimalist luminant objects to installations that redefine spatial perception. Among his iconic works is the light object ARMSTRONG from the OBSESSION project, created in collaboration with his brother Lukas.
Another major work is the PATRON sculpture, a monumental artefact positioned at the intersection of sculpture and trophy design. With its brutalist geometry and meticulous craftsmanship, the work reflects motorsport, competition, and humanity's fascination with speed.
His recent project PASSION bridges art and motorsport, translating speed, adrenaline, and technological precision into immersive objects, sculptures, paintings, and spatial interventions.
Glass artist and designer Lukas Houdek graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Prague. He has experience working for international studios, renowned glass brands such as Moser, and private collectors. Within HG ATELIER DESIGN and HOUDEK.ART he works closely with his brother Filip.
His practice searches for a dialogue between product design and fine art. He develops projects across art direction, glass design, gallery objects, and limited editions, while constantly extending the technical and visual boundaries of contemporary glass.
Lukas is deeply engaged with glass, light, traditional craft, and precise execution. He often combines historic references from Czech glassmaking with contemporary visual culture, humor, exaggeration, and strong material contrast. Together with Filip he forms the GLASSBROTHERS duo whose works have been presented internationally in galleries and museums.
