Ettore Bugatti, a gifted designer, motoring enthusiast, but also an artist, sculptor, breeder of Siamese cats, pure-bred fox terriers and racehorses. The "Patron", as everyone called him, or the "Magician of Molsheim". The cars bearing his name, and especially the racing specials, still amaze with their classic technical beauty and perfection of form. Ettore Bugatti grew up in his native Milan. His father, a painter, sculptor and architect, entertained cultural figures of the time, be they Puccini or Leon Cavallo, in his home. Not surprisingly, the young Ettore also wanted to become an artist, while his brother Rembrandt wanted to become a mechanic. In 1908, in the basement of his family home, he designed the first "pure-bred" car bearing the Bugatti brand and a year and a half later he set up a production plant in Molsheim.
